Learn more about therapy with me!
My approach to therapy incorporates narrative, emotional, and collaborative methods. I strive to
empower clients to process their emotions, reframe their stories, and build tailored solutions that
align with their goals. People can challenge the narratives imposed upon them and create
authentic, fulfilling lives. I aim to provide a safe and supportive space where individuals can explore
their unique journeys and discover their strengths.
With a background in education and leadership, I currently serve as a director in the Military
Education Program at Vincennes University. These roles have honed my active listening, empathy,
and practical communication skills. I recognize the importance of respecting clients’ autonomy and
supporting their right to find the therapist who best meets their needs. My values are shaped by my
cultural background, where therapy was often stigmatized. I am committed to challenging these
norms and promoting therapy as a powerful tool for empowerment and transformation.
As a proud Latina and mother of two wonderful daughters, I am deeply inspired by the power of
connection, culture, and resilience. I draw strength from the stories of trailblazers like Sylvia Rivera,
a passionate LGBTQ+ activist, and Dolores Huerta, a labor leader who championed workers’ rights.
Their leadership and resilience continue to shape my personal and professional philosophy.
Outside of work and study, I am a maker and creator. I enjoy cooking, crocheting, and engaging in
activities that require patience and attention to detail. I am also an avid video game enthusiast,
particularly drawn to games with rich storytelling and character development, which allow me to
unwind and immerse myself in new adventures. As a musician, I cherish music’s creative
expression, using it as a form of communication and emotional connection. Lastly, I am passionate
about traveling and learning about new cultures and traditions, which fuels my curiosity and
deepens my understanding of the world.
About Beatriz Solis Carter, BA (Intern)
I am Beatriz S. Carter, pursuing my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Capella
University, with an expected graduation date of December 12, 2025. My therapy journey was
inspired by my brother, Joe, the first in our family to earn a master’s degree. His achievement
motivated me to begin my educational journey. Before this, I worked as a preschool teacher in the
military, where I developed a deep commitment to fostering growth and resilience in others.
