Larry Smiglewski, BA, MFA

Larry Smiglewski has a BA in Theatre Arts from Marymount Manhattan College, an MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Houston, and an MS in Education from Mercy College. His education degree coincided with his work in the New York City Teaching Fellows, a program that places educators in hard-to-staff schools across the five boroughs of New York City. In 2003, Larry was named one of four Model New Teachers of NYC by then First Lady Laura Bush and the NYC Department of Education. Larry is currently completing his Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University, and is on track to graduate in the Fall of 2025.

Through his studies, Larry has taken various courses related to families, marriage, children, and sexuality. His coursework has focused upon trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, family systems, and LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. Larry has been on the President’s List every quarter of his education. He has been inducted into the Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa International Marriage and Family Therapy Honor Society, is an Honor Society Member of NSLS, and is a member of the Queer and Trans Advocacy Network with AAMFT. Outside of counseling, Larry enjoys theatre, film, music, and travel. He lives in Florida and loves to spend time at the beach and enjoying the outdoors.
