In the days before social media, the most terrifying part of prom season was the prospect of not being asked at all.
“They’re bombarded with all of these ideas that they have to do something spectacular,” Dr. Lisa Herman, a psychologist who has worked extensively with teenagers, told The Post. “It’s become ‘How do I do this to get the most likes, to get the most shares, to be more popular?’ It adds such a different layer of stress than we’ve ever really seen.”
