Dr. Allison has over twenty years of healthcare experience. Before psychiatry, spent years as a hospice nurse caring for the physical and emotional needs of patients and families at the end of life. She then graduated from Rush University in 2011 as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Since then, Dr. Allison treats patients with various mental health needs, meeting them any place they are in their journey.
Dr. Allison’s clinical experience spans most settings, including community mental health, outpatient, inpatient acute psychiatric units, psychiatric consultation-liaison services to various hospitals, geriatric psychiatry, as well as general psychiatry. She follows her patients from their hospital course into their outpatient after-care.
She provides psychiatric evaluations, prescribes medication and psychiatric procedures, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation. She works with a variety of patients, including those with depression, anxiety, bipolar or mood disorders, schizophrenia, insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and many others.
Although she enjoys working with all ages and genders, Dr. Allison developed a passion for providing mental healthcare to medical and other healthcare professionals, caregivers. She enjoys caring for women’s mental health needs, such as postpartum depression and anxiety, and adjustment to new motherhood.
