Learn more about therapy with me!

I’m Kathryn, a dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist intern embarking on a path of learning, growth, and service. While I may be early in my career, my passion for supporting individuals, couples, and families on their journey towards healing and connection runs deep.

My journey into therapy began with a fascination for the intricate dance of relationships and a desire to create meaningful change in the lives of others. Under the guidance of experienced mentors and supervisors, I’m committed to honing my skills, deepening my understanding of relational dynamics, and cultivating the empathy and compassion necessary to walk alongside clients in their darkest moments and their brightest breakthroughs.

As an intern, I approach therapy with humility, curiosity, and a genuine desire to learn from each client’s unique experiences. I believe in the power of collaboration and mutual respect in the therapeutic relationship, recognizing that true healing occurs within the context of a safe and trusting space.

While I may still be refining my therapeutic toolkit, I draw from evidence based modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to support my clients in navigating the complexities of love, family, and personal growth.

Above all, I’m deeply committed to the well-being of my clients and passionate about walking alongside them on their journey towards greater harmony, resilience, and fulfillment in their relationships.

If you’re ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth, I invite you to join me in therapy. Together, we can explore the depths of your experience, unearth hidden strengths, and co-create a path towards a more fulfilling and connected life.

Thank you for considering me as a partner on your journey. I look forward to the opportunity to support you in reaching your goals and finding greater joy and fulfillment in your relationships.

About Kathryn Long, BS, M.A.Ed

Kathryn Long received her B.S. in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University in 2013. Kathryn is currently attending Capella University (Minneapolis, MN), completing her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is on track to graduate December 2024.

Throughout her studies, Kathryn has completed coursework designed to increase her therapeutic effectivity. These include courses on both the foundational aspects and professional ethics of marriage and family therapy (MFT), as well as the following specialty areas:

  • psychopathology – the diagnosis and treatment of behavior disorders
  • systemic approaches to gender and sexuality
  • the impact of addiction/addictive behavior on family systems
  • systemic/group interventions for grief, loss, and trauma.

Completed coursework on utilizing systemic approaches in infancy through adolescence and working with families across the lifespan has prepared Kathryn to work with clients of any age. She has also completed a course on diversity and social justice in MFT and is willing and prepared to advocate for clients in manners that are professionally, ethically, and legally compliant.

Kathryn accepted invitations to join both Delta Kappa Pi and The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) honor societies. Inclusion into these societies is by invitation only and is intended for students who maintain high academic standards and demonstrate professional competency and leadership. Kathryn also maintains student membership in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

When not working with clients or completing schoolwork, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, and three cats. She loves being outside, and she is happiest either in the woods or on a beach. Her hobbies include photography, hiking, listening to true crime podcasts, and traveling/experiencing different cultures. A hobby she hopes and is working to do more of is practicing the flute, which she has played since high school. To wind down after a long day, Kathryn likes to read while enjoying a cup of herbal tea. When in the mood for fiction, she typically reads suspense/psychological thriller novels. Other times, Kathryn will read professional articles related to the field of MFT.
